In 1990 I went to what was then the newly freed East Germany. We stopped at the Brandenburg Gate, the gate that opens the border between the Berlin Wall. On the west side were placards of names for every East German Escapee who was shot by the army as they tried to cross the border.

There will be no such marker for the said young woman. This is mine..

A mountaineer has posted a photograph of the teenage Tibetan refugee nun shot dead by Chinese soldiers in front of dozens of climbers on the Himalayan slopes.
