No Olympics for me.... and not because of any political reasons. I actually REALLY want to cheer the home team on.....

A Marker for a Murdered Tibetan Nun

medium_nepal_dead470_0.jpg In 1990 I went to what was then the newly freed East Germany. We stopped at the Brandenburg Gate, the gate that opens the border between the Berlin Wall. On the west side were placards of names for every East German Escapee who was shot by the army as they tried to cross the border.

There will be no such marker for the said young woman. This is mine..


A mountaineer has posted a photograph of the teenage Tibetan refugee nun shot dead by Chinese soldiers in front of dozens of climbers on the Himalayan slopes.

Slovenian mountaineer Pavle Kozjek captured the aftermath of the Chinese attack, which occurred on September 30 as about 70 Tibetan refugees made their way towards the 5700 metre high Nangpa La Pass - about 20 kilometres west of Mount Everest - on their way from Tibet to Nepal. More
